Al Quaida supposedly claimed responsibility for the incident. Although on the surface this looks like a regular terrorist attack, there are many strange and nonsensical things about this story which have led me to consider the possibility that this was actually a CIA black op. So, for all these reasons and comparative analysis and creation of scenarios based on well-accepted principles of ops gathered from publicly available primary and secondary sources including academic textbooks, news, and interviews, I do not believe this is an example of CIA ops. While I do believe that CIA carries out black-ops (renditions provide lots of evidence for that), I do not believe this example is an example of a CIA sleeper.
Given that the CIA is well-funded, has recourse to technology, massive resources, it is preposterous to have an attempted attack fail. If the CIA recruited him, he would have a.) had definite citizenship to an allied country, 2.) not need escorting, 3.) successfully caused a huge explosion a la the attempted assasination of the Saudi security minister late last year, 4.) and high probability of survival to be used again. After all, it is some trouble to go around to 3rd world trying to recruit.

Since I’ve revisited my comment I would like to make clearer the fact that this company “L3″ some how got lots of coverage for its airport body scanner. Using the situation as a marketing opportunity. Mutallab’s lime light shining on a very expensive toy that is really designed to protect companies from employees walking out with documents. L3 has a wide range of military products and their presence in the story underscores the REAL purpose of these “attacks” or false flag operations.
